Transport rules in Ajman for chauffeur cars

Passenger transport in Ajman is run by the emirate’s own transport body, which Ajman’s government portal lists as the Transport Authority. Visit Ajman describes its public transport arm: licensed taxi companies, a ladies’ taxi and a limousine service launched on 1 June 2013.

The government service catalogue also lists a permit for a chauffeur-driven limousine or tourist vehicle that is licensed outside Ajman, so it can carry passengers inside the emirate. We have not confirmed that this permit covers our trips, so we say only this: a pickup that starts in Ajman is a partner job, and we confirm the car with you first.

Does Ajman have an airport?

No. Ajman has no passenger airport, so most guests arrive at one of three. The distances below are road distances from Ajman city, free-flow, from OpenStreetMap data.

Ajman to Dubai and Abu Dhabi by road

Ajman sits between Sharjah and Umm Al Quwain on the Gulf coast, 14 km beyond Sharjah city. Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Road (E311) is the main road to Dubai and Abu Dhabi, and Al Ittihad Road runs through Ajman towards Sharjah. Hotels and districts in Ajman

Visit Ajman lists four hotels and resorts: Ajman Saray, a Luxury Collection Resort, on the beach; Fairmont Ajman, on the Corniche; BAHI Ajman Palace Hotel; and Ajman Hotel, managed by Blazon Hotels. Give the hotel name and we find the entrance.

Three areas matter for pickups:

• The Corniche and Al Bustan. Ajman Museum stands in Al Bustan, beside the Gold Souq and Traditional Souq, and the Corniche is within walking distance.
• Al Zorah. The nature reserve, marina and golf club lie north of the city, linked to Al Ittihad Road.
• Marsa Ajman. A waterfront development on the Visit Ajman attractions list.

What to see around Ajman

Ajman Museum is the main stop. It is an 18th-century fort, the ruler’s home until 1970, and it shows manuscripts, weapons, dhow models and finds from the Al Muwaihat area dating to about 3000 BC. Opening hours are not stated consistently on the tourism site, so check them before you go.

Al Zorah Nature Reserve covers about one million square metres of mangrove forest and has nearly 58 bird species, including flamingos. Kayaking is the recommended way to see it. Al Zorah Golf Club is next door.

How to book a chauffeur in Ajman

1. Send the date, the pickup address and the time you need to arrive, on WhatsApp at +971 56 684 8148 or in the trip form.
2. Name the Dubai drop-off or the Ajman hotel. For a day hire, give the hours instead.
3. Count guests and large bags so we choose the right car.
4. For an airport arrival, include the flight number and the airport: SHJ, DXB or DWC.
5. A pickup that starts in Ajman needs a partner car. We confirm it before the quote.

• The time of day, since a rush-hour run takes longer than the same road at night.
