Abu Dhabi tour packages from Dubai

Assure's Abu Dhabi tour packages are four day tours from Dubai in a private car with a chauffeur: the city tour with the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque, a desert safari, a Yas Island theme park day and a full day in Al Ain. Central Abu Dhabi is about 139 km from Dubai. Combine two over two days.

Four Abu Dhabi tours, and how they differ

Each of the four is a day out from Dubai with its own page. Distances are by road from Downtown Dubai, from OpenStreetMap routing.

Tour What you see When it runs Distance from Downtown Dubai
Abu Dhabi city tour Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque, Qasr Al Watan, Emirates Palace, the Corniche, Louvre Abu Dhabi Full day, from the morning 130 km to the mosque
Abu Dhabi desert safari The dunes between the capital and Al Ain, sunset and a camp dinner Afternoon and evening depends on the camp
Yas Island theme parks Ferrari World, Yas Waterworld, Warner Bros. World or SeaWorld Full day, from park opening 114 km
Al Ain city tour Al Ain Oasis, Al Jahili Fort, Jebel Hafeet or Al Ain Zoo Full day, from 8:00 132 km to Al Jahili Fort

The city tour suits a first visit. The Yas day suits families and anyone who has seen the mosque before. Al Ain is the furthest inland, with an oasis, forts and a mountain road.

Putting a package together

Most Abu Dhabi plans are two of the four. These are the pairings that fit the clock.

Package Day 1 Day 2
Mosque and dunes Grand Mosque in the morning, the desert safari from the afternoon, back in Dubai at night
City and Yas The city tour One Yas Island park
Capital and oasis The city tour Al Ain, the oasis and Jebel Hafeet
One long day The sample day below: mosque, Louvre and a Yas park

If you stay in Dubai, each day starts and ends at your Dubai address. If you move to an Abu Dhabi hotel between the two days, the first day can finish there with your bags in the boot.

The sample day: mosque, Louvre and Yas Island

The itinerary above is the one long day. It leaves Downtown Dubai at 8:00 and takes the E11 south-west, through Sheikh Zayed Road and Sheikh Maktoum bin Rashid Road, to reach the Grand Mosque soon after it opens.

From the mosque it is 25 km to the Louvre on Saadiyat Island, and another 25 km to Yas Island for the afternoon. Ferrari World to Downtown Dubai is 111 km, about 1 hour 15 minutes without traffic. You are home at about 19:15.

On a Monday the Louvre is closed. The day then swaps it for Qasr Al Watan, the presidential palace at Al Ras Al Akhdar, 19 km from the mosque.

Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque: hours, booking and dress

Entry to the mosque is free, but the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque Centre asks every visitor to pre-book an online access pass. Have it on your phone before you arrive.

Day Visiting hours
Saturday to Thursday 9:00 to 20:30, last entry 20:00
Friday 9:00 to 11:30, then 14:30 to 20:30
Ramadan shorter hours, set out on the mosque’s visiting hours page

The dress code is strict. Women wear loose clothing to the ankles, sleeves to the wrists and a scarf over all the hair. Men may wear any attire, but long trousers are preferred, and tight, see-through or sleeveless tops should be avoided.

Inside, photographs are taken only at the marked photo stops. Free cultural tours of about 45 minutes run in Arabic and English. The mosque has 82 domes, and its facade is lit after sunset.

The Louvre, Saadiyat and the presidential palace

Louvre Abu Dhabi sits in the Saadiyat Cultural District under a dome about 180 m wide, pierced by 7,850 stars. It opens from 10:00 and closes on Mondays. Children under 18 enter free.

The same district holds teamLab Phenomena Abu Dhabi, the Zayed National Museum and the Natural History Museum Abu Dhabi. Pick one of them alongside the Louvre, because one afternoon will not cover all four.

Qasr Al Watan is a working presidential palace that opens its halls to visitors. Tickets are AED 65 for adults and AED 30 for children, and you enter through the Visitor Centre. Its Palace in Motion light show starts at 20:00 each night and lasts about 15 minutes.

Finishing at AUH or an Abu Dhabi hotel

A shared departure has to bring everyone back to Dubai, so it cannot end at the airport. A private car can. From the Yas Island parks, Zayed International (AUH) is 19 km away, about 23 minutes. From the Louvre it is 39 km, and from the Grand Mosque 30 km.

Load your luggage at the Dubai pickup, give us the flight time, and the last stop is timed back from it. If all you need is the road between the cities, the Dubai to Abu Dhabi transfer is the simpler booking.

Starting from an Abu Dhabi hotel

Assure is RTA licensed in Dubai, so a tour that starts in Dubai runs in our own car with our own chauffeur. A tour that starts at an Abu Dhabi hotel or at AUH is on request through our partner network, subject to availability.

Central Abu Dhabi is 31 km from Yas Island and 160 km from Al Jahili Fort in Al Ain. Our chauffeur service in Abu Dhabi covers trips that start and end in the capital.

Private car or a shared seat

Every tour on this page is planned for one group in one car, with your own start time and the option to finish at AUH. A shared seat on a set Abu Dhabi departure is on request, where one runs on your date. If you would rather build the whole day yourself, hire a car and chauffeur by the hour and choose the stops.

Age, health and dress

  • At the mosque: parents are responsible for their children, and dolls and stuffed toys may not be taken inside. Food and drink other than water are not allowed.
  • Theme parks: many rides carry height limits. Check each park’s limits for your children before you choose the Yas afternoon.
  • The desert: the dune drive pitches the 4x4 steeply, and we advise skipping it if you are pregnant or have back, neck or heart trouble. The desert safari page covers the gentler options.
  • Child seats: children under 4 must ride in a child seat in the UAE, and children aged 10 or under, or under 145 cm, may not sit in the front.
  • Long drives: a city or Yas day has about 3 hours on the road in total, and the Al Ain day about 4.

What sets the price

Abu Dhabi days are quoted for the car and the hours. Tickets for the Louvre, Qasr Al Watan and the Yas parks are paid on top, and the mosque is free. These are the things that move the quote.

Factor What changes it
The car Up to 3 in a Lexus ES 300h, 6 in a GMC Yukon or Mercedes-Benz V-Class with space for AUH luggage, or a group of 13 in a Mercedes-Benz Sprinter
Which tour A city or Yas day, an evening desert safari, or the longer Al Ain day
Finish Back to your Dubai address, or one way to AUH or an Abu Dhabi hotel
Days One day, or two days combined

Questions and answers

Which Abu Dhabi tour packages can I book from Dubai?

Four day tours, each in a private car with a chauffeur from your Dubai address. The city tour covers the Grand Mosque, Qasr Al Watan and the Louvre. The desert safari spends the evening in the dunes. The Yas Island day takes in one theme park. The Al Ain day covers the oasis, the forts and Jebel Hafeet. Any two combine over two days.

How far is Abu Dhabi from Dubai by car?

Central Abu Dhabi is about 139 km from Downtown Dubai, roughly 1 hour 30 minutes without traffic on the E11. The Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque is a little closer, at 130 km. Yas Island is 114 km away, so it is the quickest stop to reach. Al Ain is a separate trip of about 132 km inland on the E66.

Can I see Abu Dhabi in one day from Dubai?

You can see its main sights. The sample day on this page leaves Dubai at 8:00, spends 1 hour 30 minutes at the Grand Mosque and 1 hour 45 minutes at the Louvre, then gives the afternoon to one Yas Island park. You are back in Downtown Dubai at about 19:15. Two days let you add Qasr Al Watan or the desert.

What is the dress code at Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque?

The mosque asks women to wear loose clothing that reaches the ankles, sleeves to the wrists and a scarf covering all the hair. Men may wear any attire, but trousers covering the legs are preferred, and tight, see-through or sleeveless tops should be avoided. Clothing with slogans should be avoided, as should heavy make-up and excessive jewellery.

Do I need to book the Grand Mosque in advance?

Yes. The Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque Centre asks visitors to pre-book the visit and get an online access pass. Entry is free. Hours are 9:00 to 20:30, last entry 20:00, except on Friday, when visits run from 9:00 to 11:30 and from 14:30 to 20:30. Free cultural tours of about 45 minutes run in Arabic and English.

Is Louvre Abu Dhabi open every day?

No. Visit Abu Dhabi lists the museum as closed on Mondays. On other days it opens from 10:00, with closing times that vary by day, and holiday hours can differ. Entry is free for children under 18. On a Monday, swap the Louvre for Qasr Al Watan, where tickets cost AED 65 for adults and AED 30 for children.

Can the tour end at Abu Dhabi airport?

Yes. Instead of driving back to Dubai, the car can finish at Zayed International (AUH) with your luggage in the boot. AUH is about 19 km from Yas Island, 30 km from the Grand Mosque and 39 km from the Louvre. Give us your flight time and the day is planned backwards from it. An Abu Dhabi hotel works the same way.

Can I combine Abu Dhabi with Al Ain or the desert?

Not well in one day. Al Ain is 160 km from central Abu Dhabi and has a full day of its own: the oasis, Al Jahili Fort and Jebel Hafeet. The desert safari runs in the late afternoon and evening. Pair the Grand Mosque in the morning with the desert at night, or book Al Ain as a second day.
