How far each tour drives from Dubai

The distances below run from Downtown Dubai by road, without traffic, from OpenStreetMap routing. Allow extra time at rush hour. Desert figures are to Lahbab, one of the main red-dune areas for safaris; your quote names the camp.

Destination What you see Road distance Drive without traffic
Sharjah Heritage Area, Al Noor Island, the museums 26 km 27 min
Lahbab desert Red dunes, the dune drive, a safari camp 48 km 43 min
Hatta Hatta Dam, kayaks, Hatta Heritage Village 109 km 1 h 26 min
Yas Island Ferrari World, Yas Waterworld, Warner Bros. World, SeaWorld 114 km 1 h 13 min
Fujairah Fujairah Fort, Al Bidiya Mosque, Snoopy Island 120 km 1 h 29 min
Al Ain Al Ain Oasis, Jebel Hafeet, Al Ain Zoo 136 km 1 h 31 min
Abu Dhabi Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque, Qasr Al Watan, Louvre Abu Dhabi 139 km 1 h 28 min

The Dubai city tour and the dhow cruises at Dubai Marina, the Creek and Dubai Canal start inside the city. The evening desert safari collects you in the afternoon for the 48 km run out to the dunes. Global Village and Dubai Miracle Garden have their own pages, with the car to the gate and back.

Private or shared: what changes

A private tour gives your group its own car and driver for the day. A shared tour sells a seat on a set departure. Shared seats are on request, where a shared departure runs on your date.

Private Shared
Pickup Your door, at the time you choose A pickup window, with several hotels collected in turn
Price basis Per car Per person
Stops and pace Set by your group The same for everyone on board
End of the day Any address, including an airport Back at the pickup area

On a dhow cruise or at a desert camp, private means your own car and driver to the pier or the camp gate. The boat or the camp itself may still be shared with other guests unless you book it privately.

For the Abu Dhabi city tour, a private car can finish at an Abu Dhabi hotel instead of driving 139 km back to Dubai. Families of up to 6 fit a GMC Yukon or Cadillac Escalade, both with three rows; see the luxury SUVs for luggage space.

What sets the price of a tour

Assure shows no tour prices on the site. Each quote is built from these factors and sent on WhatsApp.

Factor Example
The car and its seats A Lexus ES 300h for 3, or a 13-seat Mercedes-Benz Sprinter for a group
Distance and hours Jebel Jais is 154 km from Downtown Dubai each way; Lahbab is 48 km
Tickets and activities added Jais Flight, Hatta kayaks, theme park entry, a dhow dinner
Start and finish times A pre-dawn balloon pickup, or a return from Global Village after midnight
Private or shared One price for the car, or a price per seat

Age, health and dress rules to check before you go

  • Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque: the dress code applies to men and women, with full hair cover for women. Visitors who are not there for prayer book an online access pass before the visit.
  • Jais Flight zipline: riders must weigh 40 to 120 kg and be at least 122 cm tall. The line runs 2.83 km at 1,680 m above sea level.
  • Musandam: Musandam is part of Oman, so carry your original passport. The Musandam border and visa rules cover Dibba and Khasab by nationality and UAE visa type.
  • The dune drive: safari operators advise against it in pregnancy and for anyone with back, neck or heart problems. Ask whether your trip can go straight to the camp instead.
  • Balloons, helicopters, quad bikes and dune buggies: each operator sets its own age and weight limits. Send the ages of everyone in the group with your enquiry.

When to plan which tour

  • October to April: the cooler months, and the busiest for desert safaris, Hatta and Jebel Jais.
  • Global Village: Season 31 runs from 14 October 2026 to May 2027. It opens at 4 pm and closes at midnight from Sunday to Wednesday, and at 1 am from Thursday to Saturday. Tuesdays are for ladies and families, except on public holidays.
  • Dubai Miracle Garden: seasonal, and closed through the summer. Check the season dates on its ticket page.
  • May to September: a morning safari or an indoor attraction keeps you out of the midday heat.

The day trips from Dubai guide sets every emirate side by side by drive time and month.

Landing first? Add the airport transfer

At Dubai International (DXB), your chauffeur waits in the arrivals hall of your terminal with your name on a board and helps with your bags. A tour can begin on the drive from the airport, with the luggage in the boot.

To build a day that fits no fixed tour, book a car with driver by the hour and choose the stops yourself. The private tours page explains how a private day with a driver is planned and quoted.

Questions and answers

Which tours can I book with Assure from Dubai?

Desert safaris in the dunes around Lahbab, the Dubai city tour and dhow cruises at Dubai Marina, the Creek and Dubai Canal. Further out there are the Abu Dhabi city tour, the Yas Island theme parks, Al Ain, Sharjah, Hatta, Jebel Jais in Ras Al Khaimah, the Fujairah east coast and Musandam in Oman. Seasonal venues such as Global Village and Dubai Miracle Garden have their own pages.

Is a private tour more expensive than a shared one?

A private tour is priced per car and a shared tour per person. For a couple, two shared seats usually cost less than a whole car. For a family of 6 in a GMC Yukon, or 13 people in a Mercedes-Benz Sprinter, the cost per person comes closer, and nobody waits through a pickup loop of other hotels. Send your group size on WhatsApp to compare.

Do I need my passport for any of these tours?

For Musandam, yes. It is part of Oman, and Dibba trips use the Dibba border crossing, which the Royal Oman Police opened on 26 February 2025. Bring your original passport and check the entry rules for your nationality and UAE visa before you book. Musandam is the only destination on this page outside the UAE.

What should I wear at the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque?

Women need loose clothes that reach the ankles, sleeves to the wrists and full hair cover. Men may wear any style, though covering the whole leg is preferred. Everyone should avoid tight, see-through or sleeveless clothes. Visitors who are not there for prayer also need an online access pass, booked before the visit on the mosque's official site.

Can a tour start straight from the airport?

Yes, with a private car. Your chauffeur meets you in the arrivals hall with your name on a board, the luggage goes in the boot and the day starts from there. Landing at Zayed International (AUH), for example, you can stop at the Grand Mosque before the 115 km airport run to Dubai. Give your flight number and bag count so the car has room.

Is the driver also a tour guide?

No. In Dubai, guiding tourists at sites is a licensed job: under the Bylaw of 2000, a tour guide must hold a licence badge from the emirate's tourism department. Your chauffeur drives, knows the roads and waits at each stop. If you want commentary at the Grand Mosque or in Old Dubai, ask when you request a quote and we will tell you whether a licensed guide can join.

When is the best time of year for UAE tours?

October to April is the cooler half of the year and the busiest for desert safaris and mountain days at Hatta and Jebel Jais. Global Village runs its Season 31 from 14 October 2026 to May 2027. From May to September, plan desert and mountain trips for the early morning, or pick an indoor park such as Ferrari World on Yas Island.
