Trips from Dubai and trips that start in Sharjah

Assure is RTA licensed in Dubai, so any trip that leaves Dubai runs in our own car with our own chauffeur. That covers a drop-off at an Al Majaz hotel, a day at Expo Centre Sharjah, or a morning at the Heart of Sharjah with the car waiting.

Your trip How it runs
One way from Dubai or DXB to Al Majaz, Al Khan or University City Assure car and chauffeur, under our RTA licence
Return trip from Dubai, with the chauffeur waiting at Expo Centre or a museum Assure car, kept for the hours you book
Starts at SHJ or a Sharjah address, ends in Dubai or another emirate Partner car, arranged on request through our partner network, subject to availability
Starts and ends in Sharjah, such as a day of meetings in Al Taawun Partner car, arranged on request through our partner network, subject to availability

The Sharjah to Dubai commute

Two roads carry most of the traffic between the cities. Al Ittihad Road runs from Al Majaz and Al Taawun through Al Nahda into Deira, then on towards DIFC and Downtown Dubai. The E311, Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road, runs further inland past Sharjah Airport and University City, and connects with Al Khail Road in Dubai.

The times below are free-flow figures from the OSRM route planner on OpenStreetMap data.

Trip Main road Road distance Without traffic
Al Majaz to Deira (Al Rigga) Al Ittihad Road about 13 km 14 min
Al Majaz to DIFC Al Ittihad Road, then Umm Hurair Road about 20 km 21 min
Al Majaz to Downtown Dubai Al Ittihad Road about 22 km 23 min
Al Majaz to Dubai Marina Al Ittihad Road, then Sheikh Zayed Road about 40 km 37 min
Expo Centre Sharjah to Downtown Dubai Al Ittihad Road about 20 km 22 min
University City to Downtown Dubai E311, then Al Khail Road about 34 km 32 min

At weekday rush hour these figures stretch. The morning queue builds towards Dubai and the evening queue back towards Sharjah. We don’t print a peak figure, because it changes with the day and the weather. Tell us the time you need to arrive, and the chauffeur plans the start time and the road.

Bus, taxi and private car options for the same corridor are compared in our Dubai to Sharjah guide.

Drive times inside Sharjah

Sharjah’s museums, souks and waterfronts sit close together around Khalid Lagoon and the corniche. From Al Majaz Waterfront, most are under 10 minutes away without traffic.

Al Noor Island about 2 km 4 min
Central Souq about 4 km 6 min
Al Qasba about 4 km 6 min
Expo Centre Sharjah about 4 km 5 min

Beyond Sharjah city: the desert and the east coast

Sharjah runs right across the country to the Gulf of Oman. Inland, the Al Dhaid road leads to the Mleiha desert and Sharjah Safari. Khor Fakkan, on the east coast, is reached on Khor Fakkan Road through the Hajar Mountains.

From Al Majaz Waterfront to Road distance Without traffic
Mleiha about 58 km 43 min
Sharjah Safari, Al Dhaid about 69 km 59 min
Khor Fakkan about 119 km 1 h 29 min

For the dunes, see our desert safari from Sharjah. Trips on to Ajman, Ras Al Khaimah or Abu Dhabi are listed on our intercity transfers page. Al Majaz to central Abu Dhabi is about 157 km, roughly 1 hour 45 minutes without traffic.

Sharjah Airport (SHJ) pickups

The airport sits 13 km south-east of Sharjah city. By road, the terminal is about 19 km from Al Majaz, 8 km from University City and 21 km from Ajman. Downtown Dubai is about 39 km and 34 minutes away on the E311, and Dubai Marina about 58 km.

Your chauffeur follows the flight and waits in the arrivals hall with your name on a board, and VIP guests are welcomed personally. SHJ pickups are arranged on request, so send your flight number early and we confirm the car. Full terminal details are on our Sharjah Airport transfers page.

Option at SHJ How it works
Pre-booked chauffeur Name board in arrivals, one car for the group and bags, price agreed before you land
Sharjah Taxi Metered, from the arrivals taxi stands, with a AED 20 surcharge on every trip from the airport
Air Arabia coach To Al Ghurair Centre in Deira, 8am to 11.30pm from the airport, AED 20 one way

Limousine service in Sharjah

Sharjah Taxi runs its own limousine from outside SHJ arrivals. A booked limousine with Assure is a different job: a set car, a set chauffeur and a pickup time agreed in advance.

Car Passengers Where it comes from
Mercedes-Benz S-Class or BMW 7 Series 3 Assure fleet
Cadillac Escalade 6 Assure fleet
Escalade, Hummer H2 or Chrysler 300 stretch 8 to 12 Partner network, subject to availability

A wedding arrival at a Sharjah venue usually means the couple’s car plus guest transport. The car options are on our limousine service page.

Groups, exhibitions and staff runs

For a group, one van keeps everyone together on the 22 km run from Al Majaz to Downtown Dubai. The Mercedes-Benz V-Class seats 6 with 4 large bags. The Mercedes-Benz Sprinter seats 13 or 19 and is in our own fleet. Coaches of 35 and 50 seats, for exhibitions at Expo Centre Sharjah or staff shuttles from Al Nahda, come through our partner network, subject to availability. Sizes are on our bus rental page.

How to book a chauffeur in Sharjah

  1. Send the date, the pickup address and the time you need to arrive, on WhatsApp at +971 56 684 8148 or in the trip form.
  2. For a commute, name the Dubai drop-off district so the chauffeur can choose between Al Ittihad Road and the E311. For a day hire, give the hours instead.
  3. Count guests and large bags: a sedan takes 3 guests and 2 bags, a Mercedes-Benz V-Class 6 guests and 4 bags.
  4. For an SHJ arrival, include the flight number. A pickup that starts in Sharjah needs a partner car, which we confirm before you get the quote.
  5. Reply to the quote on WhatsApp to lock in the booking.

What sets the price

  • The start point: an Assure car from Dubai, or a partner car for a start at SHJ or in Sharjah.
  • A one-way transfer or a number of hours.
  • The time of day, since a rush-hour run takes longer than the same road at night.
  • The car class, from a sedan to a stretch limousine or a coach.
  • Salik tolls, if the route passes a Dubai toll gate.

Questions and answers

How much is a chauffeur in Sharjah?

We quote each trip on WhatsApp rather than publish a rate. The price depends on where the trip starts, the hours or the route, the car class and the time of day. A run from Al Majaz to Downtown Dubai is about 22 km. A day out to Khor Fakkan and back covers about 237 km, so the two quotes differ a lot.

Can a Dubai chauffeur pick up in Sharjah?

A trip that starts in Dubai and ends in Sharjah runs in our own car under our RTA licence. A day hire from Dubai can also wait in Sharjah and drive you back. A pickup that starts in Sharjah is different: we arrange it on request through our partner network, subject to availability, and confirm the car before you book.

Is Sharjah Airport pickup available?

Yes, on request. Send your flight number, passengers, bags and drop-off on WhatsApp, and we confirm a partner car for your date. The chauffeur follows your landing time and waits in the SHJ arrivals hall with your name on a board. From the terminal, Al Majaz is about 19 km and Downtown Dubai about 39 km without traffic.

How long does Sharjah to Dubai take by car?

Without traffic, Al Majaz Waterfront to Deira is about 13 km and 14 minutes, and to Downtown Dubai about 22 km and 23 minutes. Dubai Marina is about 40 km, roughly 37 minutes. Weekday rush hours add a lot to those figures: inbound to Dubai in the morning, back to Sharjah in the evening. Give us your arrival time rather than a departure time.

Al Ittihad Road or the E311, which is faster?

It depends on the ends of your trip. Al Ittihad Road links Sharjah's corniche districts, Al Majaz and Al Khan with Deira, DIFC and Downtown Dubai. The E311, Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road, suits Sharjah Airport, University City and Dubai's Al Khail Road side. The chauffeur checks live traffic on the day and picks the road for that hour.

Can I book a limousine in Sharjah?

Yes. A Mercedes-Benz S-Class, BMW 7 Series or Cadillac Escalade from our own fleet suits a wedding arrival or an evening out between Sharjah and Dubai. Stretch limousines seating 8 to 12, such as the Cadillac Escalade or Hummer H2 stretch, are available through our partner network, subject to availability. Send the date and timings on WhatsApp.
