Abu Dhabi wedding transport from Dubai: venues, roads and coaches for guests

Emirates Palace is about 146 km and 1 hour 35 minutes from the Burj Khalifa, and Saadiyat about 134 km, so guests staying in Dubai need fixed coach departures and a planned return, not separate taxis. Assure runs the Dubai leg under its RTA licence and tells you which parts need a partner.

Which Abu Dhabi venues do Dubai couples choose?

Three areas draw couples who want an Abu Dhabi wedding with guests based in Dubai.

  • Emirates Palace Mandarin Oriental: on the western side of the city, facing the Gulf.
  • Saadiyat Island: beach hotels on the island, reached via the Saadiyat bridges.
  • Yas Island: hotels and venues near the circuit and the airport.

Typical road distances and free-flow times, before traffic:

To From Burj Khalifa From Dubai Marina
Emirates Palace 146 km, 1 h 35 min 125 km, 1 h 20 min
Saadiyat Island 134 km, 1 h 25 min 113 km, 1 h 10 min
Yas Island 114 km, 1 h 13 min 94 km, 58 min

From Emirates Palace, Saadiyat is a further 16 km and 19 minutes, and Yas Island 39 km and 33 minutes. Our Dubai to Abu Dhabi transfer page covers the main route.

E11 or E311: which road, and how long?

Two roads link Dubai and Abu Dhabi. The E11 (Sheikh Zayed Road) runs near the coast and passes the Ghantoot gate. The E311 (Emirates Road) runs inland. Your chauffeur chooses the road on the day by traffic and incidents.

Do not promise guests a time. Give a departure time and an arrival target, and state the margin:

  • Weekday: add 30 minutes.
  • Friday afternoon and evening: add 45 to 60 minutes.
  • Race and event weekends: add more, and check the date. See the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix visitor guide.

For options that are not a private coach, see how to get from Dubai to Abu Dhabi.

Coach departures for guests staying in Dubai

Guests in Dubai should ride a coach that leaves on a timetable, not take taxis that arrive one by one.

  1. Pickup points: pick two or three hotels, not ten. Each extra stop adds 10 to 15 minutes.
  2. Departure: set it so the coach arrives 45 minutes before the ceremony.
  3. Return: one fixed time, and one late option for guests who stay.
  4. Coach size: Assure’s 13 and 19 seat Sprinters come from its own fleet. Coaches of 35 and 50 seats are available through our partner network, subject to availability.

See our bus rental and minibus rental pages. The shuttle plan is in the wedding guest shuttle guide.

Darb tolls on the way

Abu Dhabi charges its Darb toll at gates on the main roads. The charge is AED 4 per crossing from 7 to 9 am and 3 to 7 pm, Monday to Saturday, and free on Sundays and public holidays. The Ghantoot and Al Qurm gates have charged AED 4 around the clock since 4 May 2026.

Every car in a convoy pays at the gate. Your quote states whether tolls are included. Details are in our Darb tolls guide.

Emirates Palace Mandarin Oriental: arrival and drop-off

Emirates Palace has a long, palm-lined approach, so the car arrives some distance after the gate. Ask the hotel’s events team three things before the date:

  • Which door does the bride’s car use, and where does it wait?
  • Is there a separate coach bay for guests?
  • Does the hotel need a vehicle list at the gate?

We have not confirmed the hotel’s coach rules, so treat the answers as the hotel’s, not ours. Couples who also marry civilly in Abu Dhabi can read the civil marriage day plan.

Saadiyat and Yas Island venues

Saadiyat is 16 km from Emirates Palace and has hotels on the beach. Cars stop at the hotel forecourt, not on the sand. Ask how the bride reaches the aisle from the car.

Yas Island is nearer Dubai, at 114 km and 73 minutes from the city centre, and sits beside Zayed International Airport. Guests flying in can use our Abu Dhabi airport to Yas and Saadiyat guide. On race weekends the island is closed to normal flow, so avoid those dates.

Qasr Al Sarab: the long desert drive

Qasr Al Sarab is a desert resort in the Liwa region, far to the south-west of Abu Dhabi city, and a long drive from Dubai. We have not confirmed its distance from official sources, so ask the resort for the time from your hotel before you plan a coach. Our desert wedding transport guide explains the 4x4 and night-return questions that apply.

Should guests stay in Abu Dhabi instead?

If the reception runs late, yes. A drive of up to 2 hours after midnight tires everyone. A hotel night in Abu Dhabi removes the return and lets the couple greet guests the next morning.

Ask each family. Guests who must be in Dubai the next day can take a late coach, fixed in advance.

Local trips that start and end inside Abu Dhabi need a licence check. Assure is RTA licensed in Dubai; ask us to confirm which part of your day needs a partner. See limousine service in Abu Dhabi and chauffeur service in Abu Dhabi. The couple’s car is arranged through wedding car hire. The full plan is in the wedding transport guide, and Ras Al Khaimah weddings follow a similar pattern in the Ras Al Khaimah wedding transport guide.

Questions and answers

How far is Emirates Palace from Dubai?

About 146 km from the Burj Khalifa and 125 km from Dubai Marina, which OpenStreetMap routing puts at 1 hour 35 minutes and 1 hour 20 minutes without traffic. Allow at least 2 hours on a Friday afternoon or on race and event weekends. Fix the coach departure from the longer figure, not the shorter.

Should the coach take the E11 or the E311?

Either can work, and your chauffeur picks the road on the day by traffic. Sheikh Zayed Road and the E11 pass through the coastal towns and the Ghantoot gate, while the E311 (Emirates Road) skirts the inland side. Ask the operator for the planned route and a backup, and share both with the wedding party.

What are the Darb toll rules for a wedding convoy?

Darb charges AED 4 per crossing at peak hours, 7 to 9 am and 3 to 7 pm Monday to Saturday, and is free on Sundays and public holidays. The Ghantoot and Al Qurm gates have charged AED 4 at any hour since 4 May 2026. Every car in the convoy pays. Assure's quote states whether tolls are included.

Can Assure run local trips inside Abu Dhabi?

Assure is RTA licensed in Dubai. A car that starts in Dubai can take your party to Abu Dhabi and back under that licence. Trips that start and end inside Abu Dhabi, such as a shuttle between a hotel and the venue all evening, may need a partner licensed there. Ask us to confirm for your date.

Should guests stay in Abu Dhabi instead?

If the ceremony ends late, yes. A 2 hour drive after midnight tires everyone, and a hotel night in Abu Dhabi removes the return leg. Guests who must be in Dubai the next day can take a late coach, fixed in advance. Ask each family before you book, because the head count decides the coach size.

How do we get the couple's car and guests to Abu Dhabi together?

Send the couple's car one hour ahead of the guest coach so the entrance is clear. Keep the family cars between the two. Fix a rendezvous point near the venue where the convoy regroups, and share the chauffeurs' phone numbers in one group so a late car can say where it is.
