Which chauffeur car for long drives: Dubai to Abu Dhabi, Al Ain, Fujairah and Muscat

For Dubai to Abu Dhabi, about 139 km, any sedan works. For Al Ain, Fujairah or Muscat, 120 to 409 km, choose an S-Class or 7 Series for up to 3 passengers, a GMC Yukon or V-Class for families and luggage. Assure confirms the vehicle and any Oman crossing per trip on WhatsApp.

Which chauffeur car for which trip length?

Trip From Downtown Dubai Road Car we suggest
Abu Dhabi about 139 km, 1 h 28 min E11 Any sedan
Al Ain about 136 km, 1 h 31 min E66 S-Class, 7 Series or Yukon
Ras Al Khaimah about 109 km, 1 h 19 min E311 Any sedan
Fujairah about 120 km, 1 h 29 min E44, E102, E84 S-Class, 7 Series or Yukon
Muscat about 409 km, 4 h 43 min Hatta and Al Wajajah Yukon, V-Class or S-Class

Distances and times are free-flow estimates from OSRM. Add time for Dubai’s rush hour and for borders. For the sedan-only runs, the choice is about comfort and passenger count, not distance. The full route table is in our road travel guide.

What matters on a long drive: legroom, recline, noise and boot

Four things decide it:

  • Rear recline and legroom. The S-Class and 7 Series both offer optional rear comfort packages. Our S-Class vs 7 Series comparison sets them out.
  • Passenger count. Sedans are planned for 3 rear passengers. A GMC Yukon takes 6, and a Mercedes-Benz V-Class takes 6.
  • Luggage. Sedans carry 2 large cases, the Yukon 3 and the V-Class 4, by Assure’s planning figures.
  • Fuel stops. A hybrid such as the Lexus ES 300h cuts stops. See our hybrid and electric chauffeur cars guide.

For two SUVs side by side, see the Escalade vs Yukon guide. Both are on our luxury SUV range.

Route by route

Dubai to Abu Dhabi on the E11

About 139 km. A sedan is enough. Use our Dubai to Abu Dhabi transfer page for the route and airports.

Dubai to Al Ain on the E66

About 136 km. Jebel Hafeet rises beside Al Ain. A day return with a driver who waits suits Al Ain better than a one-way run.

Fujairah and the east coast

About 120 km to Fujairah city, on the E44, E102 and E84. Choose the Yukon for 4 or more people.

Hatta and Jebel Jais

The mountain day trips are covered in our Hatta and Jebel Jais car guide.

Rest stops and prayer breaks

Tell us before the trip. We plan a stop for drives over 2 hours. Say if you need a prayer break and the driver plans it.

Crossing into Oman: which vehicles can go

Assure drives Dubai to Muscat on request, confirmed per trip. The usual crossing is Hatta, then Al Wajajah on the Oman side. A German embassy notice of 2 March 2026 reported both posts open around the clock and said cars need Oman insurance. We do not state here which Assure vehicles hold Oman cover. We confirm that for your trip. Each passenger needs an Oman visa or an exemption, checked on the Oman Ministry of Foreign Affairs page. Our Dubai to Muscat by road guide covers the border steps.

Day return or one way?

Choose one way when you sleep at the destination. Choose a day return when the car waits. Browse all intercity transfers or the full fleet, then send your date and route on WhatsApp to +971 56 684 8148.

Questions and answers

Which chauffeur car is most comfortable for a long drive in the UAE?

For up to 3 passengers, the Mercedes-Benz S-Class or BMW 7 Series, both in Assure's own fleet, suit trips over 2 hours. Each has optional rear comfort features that depend on the car booked. For 4 to 6 people with bags, the GMC Yukon or Mercedes-Benz V-Class gives more room. Ask which rear options your car has.

How far are Abu Dhabi, Al Ain, Fujairah and Muscat from Dubai by road?

From Downtown Dubai: Abu Dhabi about 139 km, 1 h 28 min on the E11; Al Ain about 136 km, 1 h 31 min on the E66; Fujairah about 120 km, 1 h 29 min; Muscat about 409 km, 4 h 43 min via Hatta and Al Wajajah. Times are free-flow estimates; traffic and borders add time.

Can I take a chauffeur car from Dubai to Muscat?

Assure drives Dubai to Muscat on request, confirmed per trip. The route crosses at Hatta and Al Wajajah. Each passenger needs an Oman visa or an exemption, and the car needs Oman insurance. Confirm your nationality's entry rules with Oman's Ministry of Foreign Affairs or the Royal Oman Police before you travel.

Is a sedan or an SUV better for a long trip?

A sedan is enough for Dubai to Abu Dhabi on the E11, a motorway for almost the whole way. An SUV helps on longer trips with 4 or more people or 3 or more large cases. A Yukon is planned for 6 passengers and 3 large cases, a sedan for 3 passengers and 2 large cases.

Can the driver stop for prayer or a rest break?

Yes. Tell us before the trip and we plan the stops. The driver picks a stop that suits you. A rest break is normal on drives over 2 hours, and Muscat trips usually need a longer one at the border.

Should I book a one-way transfer or a day return?

Book one way if you are staying overnight at the destination. Book a day return if the car waits and brings you back, for example Dubai to Al Ain and back with a stop at Jebel Hafeet. We quote both on WhatsApp. Our hourly vs transfer guide explains how the two are charged.
