How far is Palm Jumeirah from DXB?

Palm Jumeirah is a man-made island on the Gulf coast, south-west of the city. From DXB you drive down Sheikh Zayed Road (E11) and turn off towards the Palm, then follow the trunk to the crescent.

From To Distance Drive time, no traffic
DXB Terminal 3 Atlantis The Palm about 36 km 36 min
DXB Terminal 1 Atlantis The Palm about 40 km 39 min
DXB Terminal 1 Atlantis The Royal about 42 km 43 min
DXB Terminal 1 Palm Gateway (base of the trunk) about 36 km 36 min
Al Maktoum (DWC) Atlantis The Palm about 40 km 48 min

These are free-flow figures from a routing service, checked on 17 October 2026. Rush hour on Sheikh Zayed Road adds 15 to 25 minutes. The Salik gates on the way are Al Maktoum, Al Safa and Al Barsha from Terminal 3, and Jebel Ali from DWC. Our Salik guide has the details.

Trunk, fronds or crescent: where is your hotel?

The Palm has three parts. The trunk is the central spine from the mainland. The fronds are the 16 branches with villas and apartments. The crescent is the arc at the far end, where Atlantis The Palm and Atlantis The Royal sit.

Distance from the airport grows as you go out. A frond address adds a few minutes to a trunk address, and the crescent adds the most. Give the driver the frond number, building name or hotel so the car goes to the right branch first time.

Taxi, Palm Monorail or private car?

Option What to expect Best for
Taxi Rank at each terminal, metered, Salik added Short notice
Palm Monorail Gateway station to Atlantis Aquaventure, reached by Metro, tram or car first Day trips, light bags
Private car Driver in arrivals, one vehicle to the hotel door Families, heavy luggage, first visit

The monorail is not a way to leave the airport. Third-party guides describe a line from the Palm Gateway to Atlantis Aquaventure, paid with a Nol card, but they also report closures for maintenance. We could not confirm the current timetable with the operator, so check before you rely on it.

Taxi fares are explained in Dubai airport taxi fares.

Arriving at Atlantis and the crescent resorts

Atlantis The Palm and Atlantis The Royal each have their own entrance and arrival court. Your driver pulls in under the hotel canopy, not on the road, and the hotel’s team takes your bags.

Two practical points. First, give the hotel the arrival time, so the room and luggage team are ready. Second, if you are on a cruise, the Dubai Harbour cruise terminal is the closest port to the Palm.

Palm Jumeirah from DWC

From Al Maktoum, plan on about 40 km and 48 minutes without traffic. It is not the shorter airport for the Palm. DWC suits you if your flight lands there, so read the Al Maktoum airport guide for the terminal and meeting point.

Questions and answers

How far is Palm Jumeirah from Dubai airport?

From DXB Terminal 3 to Atlantis The Palm it is about 36 km and 36 minutes without traffic. From Terminal 1 it is about 40 km and 39 minutes. Atlantis The Royal is about 42 km and 43 minutes from Terminal 1. The Palm Gateway, at the base of the trunk, is about 36 km.

How much is a taxi from Dubai airport to Atlantis The Palm?

The RTA sets the tariff: an airport starting fare plus a per-kilometre rate, with Salik tolls added. Over 36 to 40 km, expect a metered fare well above a city trip. We do not quote taxi prices because the tariff changes. Our Dubai airport taxi fares guide shows how the fare is built.

Is there a toll to enter Palm Jumeirah?

We found no entry charge for the Palm itself. The tolls on the way are Salik gates on Sheikh Zayed Road. From Terminal 3 the fastest route passes Al Maktoum, Al Safa and Al Barsha. From DWC it passes Jebel Ali only. Gates are free between 1 am and 6 am.

Can I take the Palm Monorail from the airport?

Not directly. The monorail runs from the Palm Gateway to Atlantis Aquaventure on the crescent, so you first reach the Gateway by Metro, tram or car. With suitcases it is awkward, and third-party guides report it has been closed for maintenance at times. Confirm it is running before you plan around it.

Which is closer to Atlantis, DXB or Al Maktoum airport?

DXB. Terminal 3 to Atlantis The Palm is about 36 km and 36 minutes without traffic. From Al Maktoum (DWC) it is about 40 km and 48 minutes, because the route runs further along Sheikh Zayed Road before the Palm turn-off. Check which airport your flight uses before booking.

Where does the car drop me at Atlantis The Palm or The Royal?

At the hotel's own entrance on the crescent, where the doorman and luggage team are. Each resort has its own approach and arrival court, and the details are set by the hotel. Give us your booking name and the hotel. We confirm the entrance with you on WhatsApp before you land.
