Fujairah Airport (FJR) guide: flights, arrivals and the drive to Dubai or the east coast

Fujairah International Airport (FJR) is the UAE's east coast airport, about 3 km from Fujairah city, with limited scheduled flights. Dubai is roughly 120 km away, about 1 hour 30 minutes by road over the Hajar Mountains. Assure meets FJR flights with a name board in arrivals and drives to Dubai, Khor Fakkan, Al Aqah or Dibba.

Which flights use Fujairah Airport?

Fujairah International Airport has a short list of scheduled routes, and it changes. In April 2025 the airport announced through WAM, the UAE news agency, that IndiGo would fly daily to Mumbai and Kannur from 15 May 2025. Charter flights use FJR too: SalamAir ran charters via Muscat on 4 and 5 March 2026.

We could not load the airport’s own flight schedule on 17 October 2026, so this page does not list airlines beyond those two announcements. Read the operator on your ticket. If your airline does not serve FJR, Dubai International and Sharjah both have far more flights, and Fujairah is a road trip away.

Arriving at FJR: what to expect

FJR has one passenger terminal, about 3 km from Fujairah city centre by road. You clear passport control, collect your bags and pass customs into the arrivals hall.

A pre-booked chauffeur waits there with a board showing your name, helps with the bags and walks you to the car. Switch your phone on at baggage claim: the driver sends the exact pickup spot on WhatsApp. Our page on Fujairah airport pickups sets out the booking steps.

Drive times from FJR to Dubai, Al Aqah, Dibba and Khor Fakkan

These are road distances without traffic, from the FJR terminal. They come from OSRM on OpenStreetMap data, checked on 17 October 2026.

From FJR to Road distance Without traffic
Fujairah city centre about 3 km about 5 min
Khor Fakkan about 30 km about 29 min
Al Aqah beach hotels about 48 km about 48 min
Dibba about 71 km about 1 h
Dubai International (DXB) about 115 km about 1 h 20 min
Downtown Dubai about 120 km about 1 h 30 min

The Dubai run leaves Fujairah on the E84, climbs through the Hajar Mountains and joins the inland roads towards Emirates Road.

The coast road north is the E99. It passes Khor Fakkan, where cruise ships call, then the Al Aqah resorts and ends at Dibba on the Oman border. Our guide to the Khor Fakkan cruise port covers that stop, and the guide to Fujairah’s sights lists what is worth the drive.

Getting a taxi or pre-booked car at FJR

We could not confirm a taxi rank, operator or tariff at FJR from an official source, so we do not quote one. Ask your airline or hotel what runs on your date.

A pre-booked private car fixes the meeting point and the price before you fly. That matters on a 120 km mountain road, where a long wait in arrivals for a car that never comes costs you an evening. Some FJR pickups run in vehicles from our partner network, available subject to availability, because Fujairah trips use a Fujairah-licensed car. Ask for the vehicle in your quote.

For hotel-to-hotel journeys with no flight, see intercity transfers from Dubai. If you are comparing the other northern airport, read our Ras Al Khaimah airport guide. Beyond the northern emirates, the guide from DXB to the northern emirates compares each drive.

Fly into FJR, or land elsewhere and drive?

Fujairah gets fewer flights than Dubai, so many east coast guests land at DXB and drive 115 km. Al Ain faces the same choice: see our Al Ain airport guide. All seven passenger airports are compared in our UAE airports guide.

If your ticket is cheaper into Dubai, add 1 hour 20 minutes to your arrival plan. If your flight lands at FJR late at night, tell us the flight number when you book. Assure answers WhatsApp 24/7, and the chauffeur tracks the actual landing time.

Questions and answers

Which airlines fly to Fujairah airport?

Scheduled service is limited and changes. The airport announced daily IndiGo flights from Mumbai and Kannur from 15 May 2025, and SalamAir charters via Muscat were scheduled for 4 and 5 March 2026. Check the airline on your ticket, and treat any route list as a snapshot. We could not read the airport's own live timetable.

How far is Fujairah airport from Dubai?

About 115 km to Dubai International and 120 km to Downtown Dubai. Without traffic that is around 1 hour 20 minutes to 1 hour 30 minutes, on the E84 over the Hajar Mountains and then the inland roads into Dubai. Weekday peaks on the Dubai side add time. Figures come from OSRM on OpenStreetMap data, checked 17 October 2026.

Is there a taxi at Fujairah airport?

We could not confirm a taxi rank, fare or operator at FJR from an official source, so we do not state one. Ask your airline or hotel what is on offer on your date. A pre-booked car is simpler for a mountain road to Dubai, because the price and meeting point are agreed before you land.

How long is the drive from Fujairah airport to Dibba?

About 71 km, around 1 hour without traffic, up the E99 coast road past Khor Fakkan and Al Aqah. Dibba sits on the Oman border, so carry your passport if you plan to cross into Musandam. Check the entry rules for your nationality with Royal Oman Police before you travel.

Is Khor Fakkan close to Fujairah airport?

Khor Fakkan is about 30 km north of FJR, around 30 minutes without traffic. It is a Sharjah enclave on the east coast, not part of Fujairah. Cruise ships also call at its port, which makes it a common drop-off for passengers who flew into FJR.

Where does a chauffeur meet me at FJR?

In the arrivals hall, after passport control, baggage claim and customs, holding a board with your name. VIP guests are welcomed in person. Give your flight number when you book and the chauffeur follows the real landing time. The free waiting time is confirmed in your quote.

Can I land at Dubai and drive to Fujairah instead?

Yes. Dubai International to Fujairah city is about 115 km, roughly 1 hour 30 minutes without traffic. Landing at DXB gives you far more flights to choose from, and a private car covers the rest of the journey door to door.
