What is open in the DXB arrivals hall in the middle of the night?
Dubai International never closes. Dubai Airports describes DXB as a 24-hour airport, open every day of the year, and long-haul flights from Europe, Asia and the Americas land through the night.

Dubai Airports confirms these for the airport:
- Luggage storage at Terminals 1, 2 and 3.
- The GDRFA visa office in Terminal 3 arrivals, listed by Dubai Airports.
- Passport control, with smart gates for eligible passengers.
Shops, currency exchange counters and cafes set their own hours, and we could not confirm which stay open overnight. Dubai Airports lists them by terminal on its services page. Do not plan around one particular desk being staffed at 3 am.
When does the Dubai Metro stop and start?
The Red Line serves Terminals 1 and 3, but not Terminal 2. Dubai Airports lists these hours:

| Day | First train | Last service |
|---|---|---|
| Monday to Thursday | 5 am | Midnight |
| Friday | 5 am | 1 am (next day) |
| Saturday | 5 am | Midnight |
| Sunday | 8 am | Midnight |
So a flight that lands at 12:40 am on a Tuesday has no metro. Only Friday night is different: trains run until 1 am on Saturday morning. Hours change on public holidays and during big events, so check the RTA timetable on the day.
If you want to use the metro on a normal day, our Dubai Metro guide covers tickets and stations.
Are taxis and ride-hailing cars easy to get at night?
Taxis wait outside arrivals. Dubai Airports tells passengers to follow the taxi signs to the designated pick-up area. After several long-haul flights land together, the queue can grow.

Ride-hailing needs working mobile data or Wi-Fi to book, and you may walk further to the pickup point. Our guide to taxi fares from the airport has the cost side.
Neither option lets you plan the exact meeting point. A chauffeur does: your driver messages the spot before you land and waits inside the hall.
Reaching your hotel at 3 am: check-in and luggage
Dubai Marina is about 37 km and 42 minutes from DXB by road without traffic. Night roads are quiet, so the drive is short, but the room may not be ready.
Hotels set their own check-in times. If your room is booked from the day before, ask for it to start on the night you land. If it is not, ask the front desk whether they hold bags. Some travellers book a hotel near the airport for the first night instead. Our guide to staying near Dubai airport compares the options.
Late arrivals with children or a lot of luggage
A 3 am landing is hard on children. Tell us their ages when you book so the right seat is fitted before you arrive. UAE rules require children under four to travel in a child safety seat, and a taxi may not have one. Read the child car seat guide for the rules and seat types.
For bags, count them. A Mercedes S-Class takes 2 bags, so a family of four usually needs a van or an SUV from our fleet.
Women travelling alone sometimes prefer a named driver and a confirmed plate over a street taxi at night. Our guide for solo female travellers covers that choice.
Is a pre-booked pickup worth it at night?
It earns its place in four cases:
- You land between midnight and 5 am, when the metro is closed.
- You travel with children, a pram or more than 2 large bags.
- Your hotel is more than 30 minutes away.
- You want the price agreed before you fly.
Your chauffeur tracks the flight, so a delay changes the pickup time, not the booking. Our guide to delays and waiting time explains how. For the walk from gate to car, see the DXB arrival process.
